Does assault vest negate the ability cute charm?

Wasn't sure if it only prevented hard status effects like poison/burn/sleep or if it would also affect things like confusion and love.

When held by a Pokémon, it increases the Sp. Defense stat by 50% but
requires the Pokémon to only use damaging attack

It does affect moves such as confuse ray or attract, but since cute charm is still an ability, your opponent can love you (infatuation)
