There is no official site for middle cup that I could find, seeing as it has a small player base. But most people tend to follow by these rules from what I've read:

-All Pokemon must be Level 50
-All Pokemon must have evolved from something (even if from a Baby)
  • All Pokemon must be able to evolve into something

There really isn't much of a banlist, as I said before, it's not the most popular, so strategies, patterns, niches, and things of that sort haven't been incorporated into the metagame of the middle cup.

Middle Cup was an Other Metagame not based on any particular tier, but rather formed its own metagame. The idea of this metagame was that only Pokémon in the middle of an evolutionary line can be used. This meant that Magmar may be used because it has a pre-evolution (Magby) and an evolution (Magmortar), but Shellder can't be used since it doesn't have any pre-evolutions, and Heracross can't be used because it has neither.

Middle Cup (Smogon)

Smogon was the most popular place to play Little Cup, but it doesn't really exist anymore. When it was hosted as an Other Metagame in XY, the rules were:

  • Standard OU clauses
  • All Pokemon set to Level 50
  • Bans: Chansey, Combusken, Kadabra, Magneton, Contrary, Protean, Eviolite, Light Ball

The metagame also exists in RBY, where there are no bans.

This is different from NFE because Pokemon that haven't yet evolved at all (e.g. Yanma) are allowed in NFE, but not Middle Cup.
