Why does my Pokemon get exp. when I catch a Pokemon?!

This is just a new way of getting EXP. I can't expalin to you why GF did this, but I guess it does make sense considering they did battle.

It's a new mechanic introduced in X and Y. Don't worry, it's all normal.
