My pokeradar isn't working?

Question

So I'm in regular tall grass and all, I'm not on my bike or roller skates but it keeps telling me everywhere I go "Mom's words echoed... name here! There's a time and place for everything! But not now." I have no clue what's going on, please help!

I didn't find any exact answer to this question but I have a few suggestions:

1. Are you sure you're using the Arrow pad to move instead of the Analog stick?

2.Is it charged enough? You need to charge it by walking.

3.You cannot use the Pokeradar in the Friend Safari.

I guess I was using the analog stick I'll try it though if it doesn't work then I think something wrong or it's glitching, but thanks for the help! :)

I dont know if in XY it changed but in other generation games, you cant use the pokeradar in tall grass.
