How on earth did I get hit!?

Ok, I was doing the April Friendly Competition and I use Substitute, My Starmie (the one using Substitute) is very fast and goes 1st. It sets up its substitute, but my opponent's Noivern uses Dark Pulse and GOES THROUGH MY SUBSTITUTE and kills my Starmie!!! How is that possible! Is it a glitch?

Depending what Pokemon your opponent was using, the Pokemon could have had Infiltrator, which now, in Generation VI, bypasses Substitute and hits the Pokemon behind it directly.

you need to mention the Pokemon that DOES use dark pulse because it could have the ability infiltrator which lets moves go through subs.
