Infrared egg trading?

Question

If I walk half the amount needed to hatch a Gible egg on Pokemon Platinum and then I trade it over to Pokémon Soulsilver will I have to start all over again or walk only half the amount?

First of all, Infrared trading works the same as any kind of trading.
Second of all, no. Trading eggs does not reset the step cycle so you would only have to walk half the amount.
