Does Sweet Scent increase the chance of finding rare Pokemon?

This is in Pokemon Platinum.

All Sweet Scent does is put you into a wild Pokemon battle.

With Sweet Scent in effect, rarer Pokemon won't appear more often. It will be like encountering a normal wild Pokemon battle; except by choice.
