Is there a way to dexnav search for Pokemon you haven't caught yet?

i haven't noticed one yet even as far as I am into the game (i've been at the resort for a while now), but I was wondering if there's a way to use the dexnav to search for Pokemon that you haven't obtained yet in an area? that is to say, is there a way to search for the ones that are silhouettes on the dexnav menu?

Unfortunately not. It is required to register that Pokemon in the Pokedex in order for you to search for it on the DexNav.
