PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

I have to admit, I'm bias for the Legend Pokémon, so if I could I would pick Arcanine any day of the week.
Sadly, Ninetales has, as HA, drought.
This makes things extremely hard for me to pick one of the two.
Logically speaking Ninetales would be the better choice, but Arcanine's better stats make me dubious on what to do.

So here I am depending on you guys once more.

Is there ANY way to make Arcanine a valid choice over a drought Ninetales?
Is there ANY way for Arcanine to receive that ability without hacking?
Is there such a thing as a perfect moveset that would make Arcanine triumph over the Fox Pokémon?

I'm anxious for your answers people of the Database!

  1. Arcanine's base stats and movepool. Holy shiz, this thing gets freaking CLOSE COMBAT. Oh, and Wild Charge, Dragon Pulse, and Outrage. And the fact that you can run a mixed set easily. And all three of its abilities are great. Flash Fire is a Will-o-Wisp immunity, Intimidate is Intimidate, and Justified gives you boosts from Knock Off. And Arcanine can also run a lot of sets. Heck, you can run defensive Arcanine. Ninetales can only set up sun. That's it.

  2. Arcanine cannot have Drought. Period.

  3. There is never such a thing as a perfect moveset, however, this is the set I recommend.

Arcanine @ Expert Belt
Ability: Intimidate
Jolly Nature
252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
-Flame Charge / Morning Sun
-Flare Blitz
-Wild Charge
-Close Combat

Hope I helped!

That's a good answer Radi, really!

One objection tho.
Honestly I don't see why putting Morning Sun on Arcanine would do any good.
That move is weather based, meaning that without the Sun, which would also benefit Arcanine's moves, it doesn't reach its full capability of healing.
Are you going by the thought that "some healing is better than no healing"?
I can understand that, but wouldn't that slot be better used with a different move?
Even when not at its full potential, Morning Sun still heal 50% of the users HP. That's godsend for any Pokemon, and it does allow Arcanine to use a defensive set, or use it as a filler move. Sun support really isnt required as its a good move, even under clear skies.
thanks for clarifying Flafpert!
Guess the moveset Radi provided is pretty handy after all.
Best answer it is.
Thanks! :D And the reason I was using Morning Sun is because you're taking a lot of recoil with Flare Blitz and Wild Charge, so healing would be necessary.
