Malamar - Offence or Defence?

I'm asking what would be good a Defensive Malamar or a Offensive Malamar , Mine has quirky nature, I'm using it for competitive battles

According to Smogon, both.

Malamar gets his bulk from otherwise bad defensive stats by using Superpower with Contrary, raising his defensive stats, making him a powerhouse.
