TCG Special Energy and Attack effect confusion?

Question

I was playing with my Ampharos-EX and I used the attack thunder rod, that says :

"Look at the top 4 cards of your deck and attach as many [Y] cards you find there as you like to           this Pokémon. Shuffle the other cards back into your deck."

And then I drawn the new Flash Energy, which is a Lightning Special Energy. Can I attach that energy to my Ampharos-EX or it doesn't count ?

No, Lightning Rod states that you may only attach energy. Flash Energy only functions as when it is attached to the Pokemon.
