What types of Pokemon in a party provide the most coverage?

I always keep my starter so one of the types needs to be fire. I have blaziken, so technically he is fire/fighting. what types should the other five be to get the most coverage, offensively and defensively?

Dragon/flying
Water/dark
Electric
Bug/steel
Normal
Ghost/poison
Fire/fighting
Psychic

There are Pokemon that fit those molds. Any combination of six offers dramatic coverage and variety in stats.

That's 13 types, 1 more than the maximum possible amount. And why one earth would you use Normal? What is your source on this?

Kangaskhan is Normal, and it is immune to Ghost Types. I, personally, try to keep my Normal Types benched.

My ideal team would be Blaziken, Gengar, Scizor, Greninja, Dragonite, and Eelektross/Kangaskhan/Serperior/Alakazam (last spot is changeable for coverage).
