Poképark 2 Basculin Glitch?

Question

For some reason, whenever I continuously beat the red Basculin in the Arbor Area at a game of Chase, the game always acts like I just befriended it, even if I have before(it shows the "Befriended Basculin" message). What's the deal?

I've played Pokepark 1 and 2 and never encountered this, it's probably just a glitch
