When chaining for a Shiny Unown, does one have to keep encountering the same form of Unown? Or any form of Unown?

I don't.  I  went shiny hunting for a unown last month and all unown i encountered chaining was different form.

I can confirm, when I chained unowns other forms didn't break the chain.
It makes it kinda a pain if you want a specific form. c:
