Role: Physical Sweeper


Fearow (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sniper

Adamant Nature

Standard Physical Sweeper.

Drill Peck And Return offer some pretty nice dual STAB.

While Drill Run gives nice Electric- and Rock- Coverage, Roost to try to pull off if possible to recover from Life Orb Recoil.

[Gen 7] PU

Critical spammer + Tailwind support

- Double-Edge

Gen 7 PU had the RoA spotlight of this month (sad that it's going to end in 5 days), so here's a moveset for Fearow. Tailwind boosts Spe, along with Normalium Z it increases critical hit ratio. Drill Peck is STAB, Drill Run is good coverage, handling rock-types as well as steel-types which resist both of your STAB. Double Edge is STAB, hits like a tank. Adamant Nature because you already have Tailwind, and it's Atk is only 90 compared to its 100 Base Spe. Sniper makes critical hits do 2.25x damage, meaning you annihilate almost everything when you get a neutral crit.

Gen V

Fearow (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 88 Atk / 168 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Drill Peck
- Drill Run
- Work Up
- Tri Attack

It might look gimmicky, but I find it works just as well as anything else Fearow runs. Work Up allows it to be a surprising mixed attacker. And while your attacking stats might be low to start, Work Up and Life Orb fix that soon enough. Drill Peck and Tri Attack provide STAB, and Tri Attack might even get in a nice status effect, I mean, nothing would annoy the foe more than having your Fearow freeze their Garchomp. Drill Run provides type coverage that Fearow has always been wanting, it takes down Rock and Steel. Sniper is just nice to have when you get a critical hit, it's not like Keen Eye is any good.

Drill Peck is probably the best Flying-type STAB in Gen III, and Tri Attack has a 20% Chance to screw your opponent in a variety of ways, fun.
Mud Slap is the same situation as Pidgeot, Actually hits moderately hard, and lowers Accuracy, and Faint Attack is still there to screw Ghost-types. Yes, this is another Keen Eye user with an infinite accuracy move.

Double/Triple Battle

Ability: Sniper

Adamant Nature / Jolly Nature
- Drill Peck
- Frustration
- Drill Run
- Assurance / Tailwind

Adamant Nature should be used if using Tailwind. If not using Tailwind, go with Jolly. Drill Peck is STAB that can hit any foe in a Triple Battle. Frustration is STAB. Drill Run is type coverage. Assurance can hit hard thanks to it being a multi-battle, but you can also run team/Fearow support by using Tailwind.

- Focus Energy / U-turn / Feint Attack / Steel Wing

Razor Claw/Scope Lens + Focus Energy gives 100% crit rate, which works well with Sniper. However, Drill Run already has 100% crit rate without a Razor Claw/Scope Lens, so you can use Life Orb for even more damage. Drill Peck and Return are STAB. U-Turn, Feint Attack, and Steel Wing can also be considered for more coverage.

Drill Peck - 120 Base Power with STAB, if in a triple battle this move can hit adjacent targets
Drill Run - 80 Base Power with 95% accuracy, critical hits are more likely to land, coverage against Fire, Electric, Poison, Rock, and Steel Types
Steel Wing - 70 Base Power with 90% Accuracy, 10% chance to raise user’s defense
Mirror Move - This copies the opponents last move used, no Roost because you most likely won’t get the chance to use it

Frustration (make sure you really hate this guy for it to actually do some damage)
Drill Peck (STAB)
Drill Run (covers weakness, higher critical hit ratio)
U-turn (pivot)

This bird's stats are so weak that it has to rely on critical hits to do some damage. And even then, it's not guaranteed.

You can use return, as usually it's easier to get friendship than lower it and has the nane base power. Alsl, I'm pretty sure you need focus energy for guarenteed crits while holding scope lens

Drill Run is coverage for Rock and Ground types (with a high crit rate), Return is Normal type STAB. Drill Peck is Flying type STAB. Substitute to block status from something like Bronzor and helps Fearow safely set up Focus Energy.

You're going to need dual screens support. Basically Crit-hit Kingdra, but on a Normal / Flying type. Drill Peck is STAB. Drill Run deals with Electric, Rock, and Steel types, and has a high critical hit rate. Focus Energy is to boost your critical hit rate. Agility boosts your speed.
