You could... but only with certain Pokemon.
l'm sure you can simply trade the Pokemon, but certain Pokemon won't be allowed to trade.
l tried trading a Mew from Sapphire to Emerald, and the game wouldn't let me, but l forgot the message.
All you need is a GBA Link Cable, or two GBA Wireless Adapters, as well as two GBA's. ~
