Would the special attack go down from using Overheat if the Pokemon's ability is Shield Dust?

As an result from Skill Swap, a fire type has the ability Shield Dust. The fire type (Camerupt, for exampe) then uses Overheat. Because Shield Dust prevents additional effects, what would happen to the special attack?

No, it only prevents affects from attacks targeted at the Shield Dust Pokemon.
