What do all of the NPCs in Dynamax Adventures do?

Like the Backpacker, Berry Pile, etc. What do they do for you?

Backpacker: gives you and your teammates an Item.
Berry Pile: restores your group's health a little.
Scientist: gives one person in your group a new rental Pokemon.
