What happens if you sleep two Pokemon in showdown?

Just out of curiosity. What exactly happens if I use something like spore on another Pokemon when I already put an opposing Pokemon to sleep?

If sleep clause mod is on it says "Sleep clause mod activated", and it fails. If it's not on, then it works like normal
Source: laughing as I sleep them than realize I cant/laughing at them for trying to sleep 2 of my Pokemon

It will say something along the line of "Sleep Clause activated: it doesn't affect opposing [Pokemon name]..."

Source: I had a Shiinotic use Spore on one of my Pokemon, then another. The second time it used Spore, that message (or something close to it) appeared.
