Does skipping a day with the 3ds clock work for island scan?

I'm thinking of using this method to Shiny hunt the fully evolved forms of the Unova and Kalos starters over the cursed Masuda method but I don't want to wait a full week just to try hunting it again.

In theory yes but you have to do it in advance.

Let's say you wanted the Pokemon on Friday. You would need to skip the day forward on Wednesday to get the Pokemon one day earlier, Tuesday to get two days earlier, and so on and so forth. This is because changing the ds clock stops all time based events for 24 hours. So on Wednesday, you skip your day forward to Thursday, wait 24 hours and then your Pokemon will be available. You will always skip to Thursday.
