I’m thinking that BDSP is part two of Gen 8, but that means we’re officially due for Gen 9. I’m not sure if this means that Legends: Arceus is the first Gen 9 game, or if it’s still apart of Gen 8 since it isn’t exactly mainstream yet

I believe it's still gen 8. Cause it's more of a spinoff game. Main Pokemon games have tradition of y'know the whole region, battling, catching, living in the present like how all the main games are the same in one way. So just think of it like colosseum or XD!

All 3 of the new games (Legends: Arceus, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl) are part of Gen 8.

It’s part of gen 8. Normally remakes of older gens tend to just fall in the same gen that a new region game is in, an example being how omega ruby and alpha sapphire are considered to be in gen 6 rather than gen 7.

But it isn’t a remake; I’m talking legends Arceus. It’s brand new in its own style in its own region

I’m also looking for something reputable as a source; not just opinion
That’s still part of gen 8
