I just did what seems to be more damage when using Double Kick than Low Sweep to the same Pokémon, was it a high roll or...?

Low Sweep's power is 65. With STAB, (65 x 1.5) it becomes 97.5.
Double Kick's power is 30 (since it hits twice, it's technically 60). With STAB (60 x 1.5) it becomes 90.

[NOTE]: In Gen5, Low Sweep's power was 60.

So, the stronger of the two is Low Sweep.

No. Double kick get STAB for both hits, each of which have 30 base power. So after STAB double kick would have 45 BP for both hits or 90 base power. Low sweep is 60 BP, after STAB it becomes 90.

So in conclusion, Double kick has the same BP as Low sweep. You probably got a high roll on the mon you were using double kick on.

alright. thanks for that, i was kinda confused!
Damage is not exactly proportional to base power, which means double kick (on average) does slightly more damage than low sweep.
Oh i see, so that's why it did more
In addition, each hit from Double Kick has independent chances to crit.  But this comes with the drawback of hitting twice, making things like Iron Barbs, Rocky Helmet, Poison Point, and Effect Spore have more opportunities to take effect.
