Is there a purpose to the empty room in the Castelia Sewers?

Ok I have played Black 2 about 4 times and I have never found this room before. Deep in the sewers, to the left of the nurse you can find, there is a room that is completely empty save for a trash can in the corner, (also empty.) What is the purpose for this room, if there is one?

Most likely no. There are no items (hidden or otherwise) and if this other question is anything to go by, the bin won't have any items in it. The only thing you can do it the room is encounter wild Pokemon, so if you wanted to you could grind before Burgh's gym, especially since the nurse will heal your team whenever you want.
