So I need a special wall type for my last spot on my team (water preferably) and everyone always suggests Jellicent.

What I don't understand is how it's better suited for this than Milotic. Milotic has higher stats (other than a tad bit lower hp), including a bit more speed. Is it because of its ability? Immunity to normal/fighting moves? A bit of both?

Actually, Milotic walls Way better according to stats, but there are a few things Jellicent has over it.

  • Awesome Dual Typing

Being Part Ghost Jellicent has STAB Ghost moves and Access to a...

  • Better Movepool

Jellicent can run some sick nasty sets, Including the ever so loved - (Willo Wisp + Hex) - combo.

  • Water Absorb

Even Though Milotic Can Take Water moves Like a Boss, a Slightly Injured Jellicent Can get 1/3 of his Health back from any Water Type move, which also heals off any Stealth Rocks damage you might have taken.

  • Resistances

Okay, this is a biggy, Normal and Fighting moves don't even Touch him, Which makes him a Great Conkeldurr switch in, With Conkeldurr being a large threat in the OU Meta Game, Jellicent can take a Fighting move with Nothing happening, and Then Willo Wisp, Recover any Coverage damage taken and Hex his Face off.

So, As you might have seen, its not always all about stats.

My Reccomending Jellicent Moveset and Ev's Etc.

Jellicent (M) @ Leftovers

Role: Tank

Trait: Water Absorb

EVs: 132 HP / 96 Def / 120 SAtk / 160 SDef

Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

  • Will-O-Wisp
  • Hex
  • Recover
  • Surf

Is the Will-O-Wisp/Hex combo stronger than Toxic in your opinion? The lack of accuracy on WoW concerns me.
I personally like it better than toxic yes, Considering not only can you normally do more damage, but Willo Wisp cuts your opponents Physical attacking stats alot, meaning their Physical Switch in, is Screwed.

And the Lack of Accuracy normally doesn't affect you too much, I've used it and its pretty rare that it misses to be honest.
Awesome, I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

Jellicent is considered better because of its unique typing, awesome movepool IMO, and great abilities. So here is alittle comparison. Jellicent gets an instant recovering move in recover while milotic has aqua ring, for long term. Jellicent gets water spout, milotic doesn't. Jellicent gets two immunities, while milotic doesn't. Jellicent can take away your opponents main attacking move, usually forcing a switch, with one of it's abilities, cursed body.. It also gets three immunities if it has the ability water absorb. Both are great, you decide what fits your team best!
