The Everstone can be used to stop the evolution of your Pokemon, which stops the annoying evolution sequence from starting for every level gained after you've passed the level for evolution.

It can be sold for a low amount.

And it is best used for its help as a breeding tool, as it helps pass the nature of the parent onto the child.

An everstone can do two things. It can prevent a pokemon from evolving or it can pass down the nature of the mother or ditto when held by the mother/ditto. Hope this helps!

It is a way of ensuring that pokémon don't evolve. Benefits of not evolving and the idea behind it: Just like babies, youthful/unevolved pokémon learn faster than their grown-up/evolved versions. If you are looking to have a pokémon learn moves faster then you may want to use the everstone - especially if you are switching out mid-wild-area-battle to have the leveling Pokemon level up fast under the tutelage of a higher level 'mon. Most moves are learned several levels sooner on unevolved 'mons. And a few Pokemon miss out on moves if they evolve too soon, example: pikachu to raichu.
