I want to Shiny Hunt Fossil Pokémon, what's the best way?

Is this just for XY, or for any/every game?
All but specifically XY.
For XY, I'm pretty sure it's either soft-resetting or Shiny Charm Masuda Method, if you're not interested in RNG manipulation.

Masuda Method is usually the fastest way to get a shiny fossil. Considering post Gen VI odds of 1/512 are more than double the Shiny Charm odds of 1/1365, and the considerable amount of time per reset with fossils, Masuda Method is by far more efficient.

There is a case if you have a turbo controller, (most likely a hacked 3DS,) that could result in mindless resets and a seemingly faster and easier hunt. If this is an option for you, it's important to note that in Gen VI, you are required to have an open slot in your party to receive a fossil, which might be a persistent nuisance.

Also, in Gen VIII+, fossil Pokemon aren't affected by Shiny Charm, and have standard 1/4096 shiny odds.

Hope this helps! Please ask if you have more questions

If you factor in all the time spent hatching as opposed to soft resetting, soft resetting is probably actually faster in Gen VI-VII, especially since you'll only have five eggs hatching at a time, with a Flame Body/Magma Armor Pokémon.
