Does Area Trap work in the FR/LG Safari Zone?

I was wondering if I could trap chanseys so I can capture them more often since I am hunting for a lucky egg

I don't think it would work in the "battle" because you can't use any of your Pokemon. It wouldn't work out of battle either, because arena trap's out of battle effect was added in Emerald.

Abilities that work in battle (mostly asking about arena trap, magnet pull, and shadow tag) don't work in safari zones, right? Even if the ability user is the first Pokemon in your party?
