Why is my Trapinch having a hard time breeding?

Question

Yes, I understand there is a breeding answer available.

However, my (F) Trapinch is having trouble playing with (M) Salamance.

I have caught two different Trapinchs thus far, ensuring they have the nature I want (Jolly or Adamant).

Neither are having success breeding with Salamence (Sassy).

Should Trapinch be evolved to Flygon or do I just need to keep catching different ‘mons in case this is an IV issue?

I made an account & asked this for reassurance but putting down Emerald is painful

The Trapinch evolution line only joins the Dragon Egg Group in Gen 8. In Gen 3, it's only in the Bug Egg Group and cannot breed with Salamence.

Trapinch and its evolution line were one of a few that got their Egg Groups changed in Generation 8 (the Ralts line were added to Human-Like and the Noibat line was added to Dragon, just to name a couple). For whatever reason, this site doesn't have that information on the respective pages of these Pokemon so you wouldn't have known unless you randomly checked a different site.
