When are S/V starter traits determined?

Question

Just curious exactly when your starters traits are determined? (Gender, nature etc) Is it when you join Clavell in your yard or Nemona’s yard? Maybe another point??

I tried doing soft resets and kept getting the same traits, so I’m guessing I waited too late.

I think they are determined at the point when you pick your starter. I found a video saying you can save right before picking the starter and then soft reset until you get the desired traits on your starter.

Traits of SV starters are determined at the point when you choose your starter. You can save right before choosing your starter and then soft reset until you get the desired traits on your starter. You should also turn off the game's auto save function before you start this process.

The reason you are getting the same traits each time may be because you have Auto-Save enabled. Scarlet and Violet autosave upon choosing your starter and after cutscenes. I'm not entirely sure this is the cause of the issue though, which is why I posted this as a comment.
