PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

I bought a Glaceon Pokedoll recently from a local second-hand place and I love him. I was wondering if he was original or knockoff. I know there’s been different prints and I know they were extremely popular to knockoff back in like 2014 as well.

I have seen similar looking ones claiming they’re from 2008.

Mine does not have a tag. It was cut-off.

How can I tell if mine is authentic?

Here’s mine:

I can't see the whole thing but these are some red flags:

Poor or just outright wrong stitching, such as it being crooked or stitching going in places it really doesn't need to.

If there is anything at all left of the tag, look for a blurry Pokemon Center logo.

Fabric often feels rougher, cheap, or is an older, material, which shouldn't be the case. These things are made to last.

Check for empty parts that may not be filled in with stuffing, this is a large red flag, as the Pokemon Center usually doesn't do that.

Check if the headpiece is sewn on, or just glued. It looks a little off in the picture.

Also, the Pokevault website itself says the plush cannot stand on its own, so try to stand it up.

Hope this helps you!

Mine stands up on its own, barely; I have to push the neck in and it’ll stand for a bit.
The stitching is actually very nice
The tag is cut down completely
The quality is very high on mine. It’s super soft.
It looks nothing like that one
The crystals on its head are glued on

Mine looks like this one, which claims to be PC 2010 https://ebay.us/m/4dRQuo

The one you’re comparing to isn’t the one I have
I know it isn't the same, but you said similar ones claimed to be from 2008. If that's a closer reference, which it does seem to be, then I think it's legit. There's more pros than cons, and the one you just sent a link to has a perfectly good tag. It's not guaranteed, but I think it's more likely than not. Really I think the only thing to look for now is a source saying that they bought an official one that has glued head crystals, which I can't find for the life of me. I'll keep looking, though, and I'll update the answer if I find one.
