I know you can get shiny mew in Japanese emerald cartridges and in Pokémon go one time but I was wondering if I could get shiny mew by just hopping on a game and shiny hunting it

i dont think so, unless you find a bug, or transfer from HOME
GEN 1!!! (Virtual console on 3DS) By doing the mew glitch with a special stat of 21 a wild mew will appear. If this mew has certain DVs (gen 1 equivalent of IVs) then it will be shiny when traded to gen 2 (also virtual console). This mew can then be traded all the way up to modern games like SV through the use of Pokémon bank and Pokémon home. It DOES utilise a glitch exploit but it’s still a difficult hunt looking for a shiny in gen 1. The shiny DVs are rare.
If the gen 3 games has the key item, the game can still access and shiny hunt mew.
I got shiny mew a few years ago from Pokemon GO. I know they still sell tickets like that from time to time.
You can also ACE a fateful mew encounter and shiny hunt that way in FRLG, even switch versions
What’s ace?
ACE stands for arbitrary code execution. It basically means you use the game and write code within the game, and trick the code into recognizing what you did was code and to read it. You can do anything you want with ACE as long as the access point and the code has been discovered. For FRLG, ACE has been discovered and people write codes for everything already. I recommend watching this guy, he’s pretty good at showing off what you can do. He has multiple videos on the topic, and he shiny hunted mew as well.
