Um.. What happened today?

So the db disappeared today, and mew and riles talked to me on showdown about it and I'm wondering, what's going on?

I'm going to answer with Pokemaster's assumptions, since I talked to him today.

The DB was down.

I emailed Pokemaster today and we talked about it on GChat. At first, he thought it was some kind of server error. In a few minutes, the the PokeBase was up. Then, it went down again.

Pokemaster now believes that we've been hit by a DDoS. For those who don't know what it is, it's a "Distributed Denial of Service", it's what happens when a bunch of computers all try and load the site at once, causing massive overload to the site (Pokemaster).

A week ago user blood king assassin said he knew how to take out the site on chat, and look, he did.

The site was kind of working but it slowed to a complete crawl. At first I thought it may have been a DDoS (or something else massively overloading the server) but now I'm not so sure.

My host had an outage about the same time we went down. They don't think it was anything to do with them but it seems like too much of a coincidence to me. I will keep an eye on everything though and see if I can find a cause.
