Before you say that kahunas and trial captains are different, Prof. Colress is on the steel type page and he's neither a gym leader nor an Elite 4.

Inb4 PM just removes Corless to make your argument invalid.
The trial captains aren't battled as part of the story, so they're less relevant than gym leaders.
*most of the trial captains
You do battle Ilima in the story, and Mina in the Ultra Beast missions. Also maybe Acerola, but at that point she's Elite Four.
The majority of Gym Leaders also aren't relevant to the story bar being a challenge. Before Gen 5 Gym Leaders really did very little.
Even if they aren't relevant they're still NOTABLE TYPE trainers.
Would that include Sophocles' nerd friend, the one who gives you the Steelium Z?
And the edgy Dragon trainer you face during Title Defense.
Technically the gym leaders are part of the main story, because players are supposed to defeat them before becoming champion. Sorry for not knowing about Illima and Mina, though.
Also, why don't they have information on villains? They're important, right?
They don't all specialize in one type though. The only one I can think of are Giovanni, who falls under the "Gym Leader" category, and Guzma. However, if Colress is included in the Steel page, I think it's only fair that Zinnia be added to the Dragon page.
Lusamine focuses on the strange jellyfish type.
@sumwun Players are supposed to finish Trial captains' trials before becoming champion.
@ Jawa The player doesn't necessarily have to battle them. I'm pretty sure the definition of type specialists are people who use a certain Pokemon type in battle.
Also, Plumeria specialized in poison Pokemon, Faba and Dexio specialize in psychic Pokemon, and Sina specialized in ice Pokemon.
But the trial captains ARE type specialists. When you battle them they use only one type. Besides, Trial Captains are the Alolan equivalent of "Gym Leaders" as far as the Pokémon game formula is concerned.
You know what, fair point.
In USM, battling some of them is more important to the story-line, more specifically, the fairy trial. As well as battling the other specialists as part of the story line (or Ryuki as an edgy dragon master that challenges you at the Pokemon League...)

Please don't bump questions. I'm aware of the suggestion and will fix it when I have chance.

However, it is slightly more difficult as the "notable trainers" part takes its data from the same place as the gym leaders page. So it requires a trainer to be listed with their Pokemon like that, and IIRC you don't battle all the trial captains.
