i think the only reason i'm good is because i started playing with a group of friends that were already pretty decent, which gave me an environment where we weren't constantly struggling so i could learn. i'm not even mechanically that great, probably average. a lot of the game is just how aware you are to what's going on in the game and how offensively/defensively you play. i don't have any tips for getting good, you just kind of play until you are.
unfortunately, the game is in an awful state that i'd imagine would make it nearly impossible for anybody to have any fun learning how to play. any matchmaking there is rarely works and with the highest on our team being level 600, we're routinely in games with nobody above level 80. unless you really want to play for some reason, i'd recommend against going on pvp servers to practice or whatever, you'll have more fun just finding a different game to play, and being good at pvp isn't even half of the game. most out of game practice i've ever done is the lobby bridge practice while waiting for everybody to get ready. hypixel doesn't care enough about the game to do jack about it, so the game will probably remain horribly unbalanced, because the only thing they're willing to do is add bad maps that they haven't playtested.
my only advice is to not play solos/duos.
