It's been nine or ten years since my last wall essay although I still write large bodies of text to myself just privately, usually on Discord or in Scrivener (the greatest text application) and to friends I guess when I still talked to them.

I used to write about different things like Pokémon theories and song lyrics and Digimon and MLP:FiM and One Piece. I haven't watched Digimon since then or kept up with OP. I cleaned my wall after I was bullied off of the site in late 2016. I talked to CWegz on Steam for a while after that until mid 2017. Then I was alone for a while before deciding to initiate conversation with someone on Discord. And that relationship grew, and grew, and grew. Eventually we had a friend group and I was talking to CWegz again. And Covid happened and I got to play Smash and Spelunky and Ultimate Chicken Horse with Gligurr every single day. But good things never last and we soon fell out of that loop especially when my Discord account got deleted.

A lot has happened since I posted on my wall. I mean, in terms of my interests and hobbies. I did get around to finishing Sun, despite hating it at first. I thought it was the best Pokémon game ever although I have serious doubts about that now. I got into Paper Mario, Metroid, Spelunky, Steins;Gate, Persona 5... I started listening to music whereas before I closeted myself to just video game soundtracks. So many more things. The Half-Life and Portal series, I was really decent at Smash for a bit. The Nintendo Switch came out. The Nintendo Switch 2 came out. I don't know...

Actually it feels like my entire life happened in 2017-2024. It's absolutely inane to me that I had anything to rant about before.

Sword and Shield. I avoided Twitter and YouTube and obviously any Pokémon website so I could have a blind experience of the game (although I was less strict this time than with S/M after Alolan Forms and Ultra Beasts took up 50% of the Pokedex). I remember seeing "BringBackNationalDex" trending and wondering what the hell people were on about. The National Pokédex wasn't in Gen 7 either! Why are people so passionately angry about this?!

Yeah turns out they meant the literal Pokémon.

I had wanted the games to cut down on the number of Pokémon in the Pokédex. Anyone who completes the full Pokédex is neurotic. There's no content in hunting people to trade with just to fill a virtual silhouette in. I enjoy discovering new Pokémon and catching them all myself. Trading is fun, but I do not want to trade for 800 Pokémon.

"But I planned out my team and everything!!!"
Seriously???? You planned out an ingame team for a brand new Pokémon game using exclusively old Pokémon? What is wrong with you? What is even the point of playing a new game if you just want to play it the exact same way you played the old one?

People were extremely critical of Sword and Shield. The tree texture, the framerate, the freezes. People were mad they got rid of random encounters. I was so happy when I found out random encounters were gone. I've always complained about Pokémon animations. Always thought they looked dumb and unpolished. Always thought the games should have more attention to detail. Wasn't until they cut your favorite Pokémon that you suddenly became a professional game critic.
Sword and Shield were fun! REALLY fun! EXP Candies and Dynamaxing and the dialog was really funny (one of the funniest games I've played) and the story was so bad it was good. The Crown Tundra was super fun too and Regieleki is amazing.

Arceus was also very good. I had to skip most of the cutscenes because they were too long and the story was terrible but when the game gets going it's so good. I really enjoyed hunting all 28 Unown. I didn't understand how the battles worked though. Oh and the Raichu Pokédex! I remember seeing Copperajah and thinking, "they need to update Raichu and Gastly's Pokédex!" and they did and it made me very happy.

Scarlet/Violet, I think I called them the best Pokémon games in 10 years (since BW2) and I probably stand by that. They had a lot of graphical glitches and the framerate was not good but they had serious improvements to gameplay, I think Tera is a great mechanic, and I loved the open world. Gathering stakes was so fun. The Pokédex was great and the story was decent it was a really fun time.

New Pokémon Snap! I played that game so much. I need to replay it because it's been a few years now. But the tutorial is so long and you can't skip it. Maybe there's a hack/cheat that lets you skip the intro.

Okay, I'm feeling better now. I will stop here. I do not think I went very in depth about anything but that's ok. Goodbye.
