Well, It's been a while I wanted to make a team based around a Pokémon so I chose Serperior. Why Serperior, you ask? Because I wanted to be ready when Contrary Serperior would be released. I give one week max to Smogon before they release how OP he is and ban him from NU, like they did with Gothitelle. So on to the team. Like I said, it is based around Serperior, and each Pokémon has a specific role. For example, Haunter checks Sap Sipper Miltank wonderfully while Emboar and Braviary work in tandem to destroy Serperior's counters. Here we go!
Team Preview:
Emboar (M) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Superpower
- Head Smash
- Earthquake
Well, E-Belt Emboar is something that has been suggested to me by a couple of people. He is a counter to Amoonguss, though I don't put switch him in on Spore. Flare Blitz is my primary and most used STAB. When super-effective, it leaves nothing behind, not even bones or anything. Superpower is my secondary STAB but is less used than Flare Blitz due to the secondary effect which lowers my Attack. I only use it when needed. Head Smash and Earthquake make the EdgeQuake combo, hitting a lot of Pokemon for super-effective damage which can be easily spammed with Expert Belt equipped. Adamant Nature is used over any other Nature because even with a Speed-increasing one, he won't be outspeeding much. He's my Physical sweeper. And now I'm eagerly waiting for Reckless to be released because I have a new set for it ;D.
Braviary @ Leftovers
Trait: Defiant
EVs: 252 HP / 192 SDef / 64 Spd
Careful Nature
- Substitute
- Bulk Up
- Roost
- Brave Bird
SubBulk Braviary is something I wanted to try since quite some time now but I never got to do it. I first discovered this set while battling with my prized team. I was amazed by it's potential to resist Modest LO Ludicolo's Ice Beam in rain. So I decided to put him in this team. He's my Ludicolo counter and my second Physical sweeper. Once he has a Substitute up, he can spam Bulk Up and make his Sub very hard to break. After a couple of Bulk Ups, his STAB Brave Bird to wreck havoc. Roost is very reliable recovery and shrugs off all damage taken from Brave Bird recoil and Substitute spamming.
Carracosta (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
Well, it was pretty hard to find a Pokémon that had good synergy with my team while setting up Rocks. With the help of Spoink, I finally found Carracosta. He has a sweet base 108 Attack, which allows him to spam his moves until the opponent dies. Solid Rock is a nice Ability to have. Stealth Rock is the first thing I'd use, normally. Hazards are so important in NU due to the lack of Spinners (though, SMASHKOAL is getting so popular..). Stone Edge is his primary STAB and hits very hard. Aqua Jet and Waterfall are both STAB, the first one Priority and the latter, hard hitting STAB.
Gardevoir @ Leftovers
Trait: Trace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 Spd
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Signal Beam
Haunter @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Ground]
Serperior @ Life Orb
Trait: Contrary
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Dragon Pulse
- Glare
Serperior needs so much help, it's the worst set I've ever made in my life. Other than that, Scarf on Serperior? I dunno. Anywho, I hope you like this team :P I'll edit in descriptions tomorrow.
