So when Erick peaked so high on the ladder with his mono flying team I thought I better have a go. So I made my own mono flying which peaked at 119 which isn't great but not bad for 1 hours work. Many months later Erick posts his mono Psychic team which peaked even higher. Remembering how easy to ladder in monotype it was I made a mono fight team. I bumped into Erick on many occasions beating him 4/6 times against his mono ground. He then beat me with is mono flying team but there was only 4% HP in it so I think that isn't so bad considering the massive type disadvantage. In the end I peaked 55 which isn't bad for someone who knows nothing about the metagame. I haven't used the team on Po since as I lost 40 points in two battles dropping me down to the 70s. I have been using it and modifying it though on Showdown using it on 4 different monotype tournaments, winning all 4 :3
The team is not great and I accept that considering I'm new to monotype. The whole aspect is to hit hard hence my lack of bulk.
Infernape (F) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Close Combat
- Overheat
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock
I love this set so much. Not only has it swept many people but it also serves as a counter to mono bug, steel and ice which are possibly the three most common mono types in the game. It was really meant to be more of a suicide lead but it ended up sweeping 2-4 Pokemon on many occasions. It isn't best suited for Ericks Landorus-T lead though who has a tendency to Explode very often.
Medicham (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Hi Jump Kick
- Psycho Cut
- ThunderPunch
- Ice Punch
So origionally I used CBand on Medicham as that brings its Atk to near 700 without any boosts. If you ask me thats pretty insane :D A hi jump kick coming off a choice scarfed Medicham still really hurts though. Pscho cut is pretty epic stab and is usually my go to move when I can't use hi jump kick. Also it hits mono fighting teams pretty hard.
Keldeo @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Justified
EVs: 248 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Surf
- Secret Sword
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Hydro Pump
Keldeo is my scarfer over Terrakion because RP Terrakion is to baws not to use. Hidden Power Ice is used over Icy wind because I prefer hitting kos. Surf and Hydro pump gives me flexability to fit certain situations.
Scrafty (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Shed Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature
- Bulk Up
- Crunch
- Drain Punch
- Rest
Unfortunately for mono Psychic life isn't just so easy. Anything that lets this guy set up is a bad idea. Status is not a way to get rid of this Pokemon. All you can do it try and hit it incredibly hard. Though with its solid defenses thats not so easy as I beleive it was ATD found out when his rain boosted jellicent got a crit with Scald and still only did 32%.
Terrakion @ Life Orb
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Rock Polish
- Rock Slide
- Close Combat
- X-Scissor
If RP is up its gg tbh. It sets up on people switching trying to sponge a CC then bam.
Breloom (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Spore
- Mach Punch
- Bullet Seed
- Swords Dance
I could not not use Breloom :3 Spore is welcome and so is the priority.
