I haven't done a sand team before, so yea.
Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP, 180 Sp. Def, 76 Atk
Nature: Jolly
- Crunch
- Low Kick
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge
Weather lead and team support. Bite dust, Giratina. I decided to go defensive on Tyranitar though because I can't lose my weather lead; Excadrill will be outsped by its threats without Sand Rush.
Palkia @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Nature: Timid
- Surf
- Spacial Rend
- Thunder
- Ice Beam
Weather phaser. Picked Thunder over T-bolt because it's there solely to deal with Kyogre. Ice Beam there to deal with Groudon (Surf will have halved power due to Drought). Other moves are compulsory STAB.
I was going to go with Zekrom, but then I realised I needed to deal with Groudon as well, and I already have a lot of Ground and Ice weaknesses on this team.
Excradrill @ Air Ballon
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Nature: Jolly
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Claw
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
Excradrill: not my rapid spinner. Standard (and, for the most part, the only viable) moveset for Excradrill. Shadow Claw is there to deal with Giratina, Mewtwo, etc..
Forretress @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Sp. def, 4 Def
Nature: Calm
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes
- Spikes
- Volt Switch
Forretress is my rapid spinner and spiker. Volt Switch over most other options to set up a pursuit trap for any spin blockers.
Shaymin-S @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Nature: Timid
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Seed Flare
- Air Slash
Other Kyogre/ Groudon counter, and also Ferrothorn checker (what with leech seed being so annoying); you don't need fire or fighting moves to deal with Ferrothorn. At max speed, Shaymin-S can outspeed most un-scarfed threats.
Lugia @ Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP, 140 Def, 116 Sp. Def
Nature: Bold
- Roost
- Whirlwind
- Thunderwave
- Ice Beam
While adding another Ice weakness to my team, Multiscale is Lugia's best attribute (among many others). That's the reason I went with Lugia over Giratina anyway, since the latter would be adding another ice and dragon weakness.
Suggestions? I'm mainly worried about the ice weakness, but I tested it out and Forretress walls well enough, and Lugia can survive most non-STAB super effective hits.
