Pokémon Rate My Team

So after that thread on Pokebase about Volt/Turn cores, I decided to go and make one for Victini & Rotom-M. I've used them before, but not very recently since I tended to put all my favourite Pokemon on one team (Zoroark, Mienshao, Porygon2...), and they kinda got side lined in my UU play.

Process (for anyone that cares):
image image
^ Volt Turn offensive core

image image image image
^ + alternative sweepers

image image image image image image
^ + support

Volt Turn core

image
Victini @ Choice Band
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Nature: Jolly
- V-Create
- Bolt Strike
- Brick Break
- U-Turn

At first, I wanted a team member that had Choice Scarf permanently to outspeed my main threats, but Choice Band Victini wrecks nearly everything. Slowbro can bite dust on a Bolt Strike switch in.

image
Rotom-Mow @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Nature: Modest
- Volt Switch
- Leaf Storm
- Will-O-Wisp
- Trick

Evil lawn mower doesn't get as much use as it should. The double electric resistance is really useful, coupled with steel, water and grass resistances, along with Ground immunity and Flying neutrality.

Trick in order to mess up set up Pokemon like Bronzong and Nasty Plotters like Azelf. All the other moves are self-explanatory.

Coverage sweepers

image
Mienshao @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Nature: Jolly
- Fake Out
- Hi Jump Kick
- Stone Edge
- U-Turn

It's Mienshao. No other reason needed to use one.

I've also given up on Rock Slide. If that misses, I actually feel more terrible than when Stone Edge misses. :(

image
Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Sp. Atk, 4 Def
Nature: Modest
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Discharge
- HP Fire

It's Duck Tank. In UU, it's safe from Keldeo, Terrakion, Conkeldurr and Breloom so it can sweep & wall comfortably.

Victini's Stealth Rock weakness is annoying to say the least, and a x1 Bug neutrality isn't good for a switch in. Therefore, Porygon2 has HP Fire for some alternative coverage, in addition to having a special fire move.

Support

image
Alomomola @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Atk
Nature: Impish
- Wish
- Toxic
- Waterfall
- Protect

Since Chansey is in BL, Alomomola is my choice for team support in UU. Umbreon might be good, but Alomomola's massive HP stat means Wish will replenish most of the team to full health, and Regenerator is one of the most amazing abilities in the whole metagame. Also, what Alomomola cannot take, Rotom-C will be able to wall.

For the most part, I do not need Heal Bell support. Alomomola is my Toxic absorber, being able to take some status damage due to Regenerator. When I know what set a Sableye is running (i.e. Will-O-Wisp set), I can send out Victini and V-Create it into oblivion.

Alomomola also checks Darmanitan, Heracross, physical Victini (even with Bolt Strike) and Arcanine. It's a really underrated Pokemon, even in NU.

Hitmontop @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 Def
Nature: Adamant
- Rapid Spin
- Foresight
- Mach Punch
- Sucker Punch

Foresight Technitop. Because your Sableye can go cry in a corner, that's why. Hitmontop's also my Thunder Wave/ paralysis absorber. Already slow, he's not going to go before most other Pokemon, in addition to having 2 priority moves.

Great another UU Team with a VoltTurn Core

I guess I'll answer.

Victini:

YAY. Someone's using it at long last :3
I don't have any suggestions for this guy besides the fact that an EV spread of 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd disallows the Porygons a SAtk boost.

Rotom-C:

Rotom-C sits in a very important Speed tier, make use of it. With a Timid Nature, it outspeeds Jolly Choice Scarf Heracross, which can cause a load of problems for the team. So therefore, I suggest the Nature to become Timid, and to dispatch Will-O-Wisp in favor of Hidden Power [Flying] to dispatch Heracross. Similarly, like Victini, shift the EV spread to 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd to disallow the Porygons a SAtk boost.

Mienshao:

Not much to say here. A cool move is Hidden Power[Ice]. It has a nice 95 SAtk stat, and a Life Orb...it can then wipe the floor with Gligar, a formidable threat. Try it over Stone Edge.

Porygon2:

As your team is pretty weak to Chandelure, try using Trace instead of Download. It copies Chandelure's Flash Fire, rendering it useless unless a good predict with HP Fighting is used.

Alomomola:

Right now, two Pokemon want to take a dump on your team. They are called Tornadus Incarnate form and Specs Kingdra. These two make a formidable core in the rain and Alomomola simply cannot take repeated doses of their attacks for too long, as it is more Physically Defensive. Therefore, I'm going to use a Specially Defensive wall here that can take their moves better:

Bronzong @ Leftovers

Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Def / 196 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Earthquake
- Gyro Ball

Specially Defensive Bronzong fits your team well, mitigating your Flying weakness and giving serveral useful resistances. Furthermore, it gets Stealth Rock, a vital asset for any VoltTurn based team to force switches, while racking up Hazard damage. Toxic is to surprise walls. Earthquake and Gyro Ball are coverage so Taunt won't destroy you. Use 0 Spd IVs.

Hitmontop:

Now you lack a Physical Wall. Oh boy.
Furthermore, an Intimidate Hitmontop is unlikely to do well when combined with Mienshao. I propose a Blastoise to be your Bulky water and Rapid Spin.

Blastoise (M) @ Leftovers

Trait: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Roar
- Foresight / Ice Beam

Here it is. Taking all them Victini V-Creates and Darmanitan Flare Blitzes. Anyways, Foresight and Rapid Spin is retained, so you can go ahead and use that. However, you can use Ice Beam to nail Flygon and Gligar. Scald is a great move to burn stuff, effectively bolstering your Defense. Roar gets rid of Boosters and SubAnnoyers.

There's my rate, hope the changes help.

Porygon2 has Analytic atm, not Download. XD

Yea Kingdra is a problem, but all the Tornadus(es?) I've encountered have little to no speed investment because of Prankster. Mienshao will be able to deal with one after it sets up rain dance.

Also, I used HP Ice before on Mienshao, but unless the Pokemon has a x4 Ice weakness, it can't OHKO them. Even a Gliscor can't be OHKO'd easily due to Eviolite. :/

I'll try out your suggestions; TY Mew!
I read it wrong :(
