Ha ha get the title? The Might of Olympus, but because this is an OU team it's [OU]lympus? Lol? Nobody? Fine. I thought it was funny.
Anyway, since I haven't posted an OU team on the RMT since forever, and since it's almost school and that means my activity will decrease, I've decided to post this final RMT before school opens. I'm posting this because I rarely play OU anymore because it got boring (Gen 6, you had better make OU better!) and this team isn't getting used that much however it is by far my best OU Rain team yet. And this time I won't post a team building process because I think it takes up room and I can explain them in the descriptions under the movesets anyway. So uh let's get to it :D
(Btw I love Greek Mythology which is why I named the team these names. Oh, and have you guys read the Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus books yet? Highly suggest that you do)
Replay vs. Fallacies
It was neck and neck until a good prediction at the very end which won me the game.
Bythos (Politoed) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Protect
- Toxic
- Perish Song
Yes, yes, yes. I know. Bythos isn't a god. But he is a Ichthyocentaur. Real word. Click the link. They have the upper body of a man, lower part of a horse, and a fish tail. Kind of like a centaur with a fish tail instead of a horse tail. (Yeah Politoed isn't a centaur with a fish tail, he's still a frog. Same thing. Also, that Wikipedia link says that they are some kind of sea-gods. Anyway, back on topic. This is my standard specially defensive Politoed, because the physically defensive one just isn't my thing. (Yes, I have tried it.)
Originally having Surf here, I chose Scald because of the burn chance. However, I still might change back to Surf just for the extra power.
Protect is easily one of the best moves on a ToxicStall Pokemon. A free turn for lefties healing and toxic damage? Sign me up!
Toxic can form a ToxicProtect combo and stall the heck out of the opponents.
Perish Song can force many switches and is extremely useful when something tries to set up on me. Pretty standard bulky rain Toed.
_____
Ares (Conkeldurr) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Ice Punch
- ThunderPunch
Appropriately named after the Greek God of War himself, this guy packs a major punch. This is really a kamikaze Pokemon that tries to deal as much damage as possible before fainting. The SubPunch combo sacrifices Drain Punch healing to deal ultra strong damage. (Yes, he is Ares. Sure he has a clown nose, but don't let that fool ya! I'm not changing his name)
Substitute is the crux of this set mostly because most people expect a Bulk Up set. Well, behind a sub it's wreckage time. It allows me to freely choose any of the following 3 moves that I want and do some major hurt.
Focus Punch is the second part of my SubPunch combo, and man does it hurt. Giving up valuable healing with Drain Punch, Focus Punch can do a ton lot more damage. No heal dough.
Ice Punch can hit dragon types for 4x/2x extra damage. I really don't use it that much, except for ghosts and the occasional ground.
Thunder Punch makes up the BoltBeam punching combination, and basically grants me perfect neutral damage on anything. I can also hit the stupid Jellicent that wants to take the Focus Punch.
I mostly put Conkeldurr in here because MrK totally demolished my team with his own Focus Punch. Well I decided to use my own ;) and boy was that a smart decision. Kudos to you MrK
Hephaestus (Heatran) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 180 Def / 76 SDef
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Will-O-Wisp
- Fire Blast
- Roar
The Fire and the Forge, the skilled Greek God of Blacksmiths, the honored title was given to the one and only steel and fire type in OU, Heatran! Originally being a Ferrothorn, I decided that I needed a Volcarona counter and out game Heatran. Being the best Vocarona counter out there, Heatran can set up and then Roar everything. This can also counter some very dangerous threats that roam OU, mostly choiced dragon types that wreck havoc. Also why does everone think a Heatran on a Rain team is so weird? Sure it's a fire type, but it being fire type can grant it some key resistances and especially another weather counter. It's really not that big of a surprise xD
Stealth Rock is one of the key reason why I use a steel type. Rocks are so very important in OU that a spinner is needed and when a spinner is using Rapid Spin I can basically get a free attack. (Sadly I have no ghost type but that's ok)
Will-O-Wisp actually can surprise quite a few players and is a great move to use on a switch-in. I can burn all day and when something is locked into Outrage this is a great move to use.
Fire Blast was chosen over Lava Plume and Flamethrower because of it's sheer power. Sure it gets toned down in Rain but that doesn't mean I can't use it over Earth Power. (But then I'm walled by Heatran but almost every one of my Pokemon has a neutral or super effective move against it so I'm not worried)
Roar is my dire Volcarona counter and when it switches in it has to take a 50% health drop.
Max length got me again! Well, team continued below ↓
