Crobat @ Black Sludge
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 180 HP, 76 Atk, 116 Def, 136 Speed
Nature: Jolly
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Whirlwind
- Defog
Crobat is basically my hazard ridder and fighting sponge; Mawile is in no status to take fighting hits, even with Intimidate and its new Fairy typing.
I considered Toxic over Whirlwind, but I couldn't forfeit a hazing move in light of new Swords Dancers like Aegislash, Mega-Scizor and Mega-Pinsir. I've also seen the odd Suicune who think that Crobat won't do anything to them, so it's been useful for that too. I also chose Defog > Rapid Spin because of Aegislash's prevalence, and while Hitmontop & Blastoise can use Foresight, they really have better things to do than to have that useless move. Crobat's also fast, so at least it can get Defog out before it gets KO'd by something.
Virizion @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 104 Atk, 152 Sp. Atk, 252 Speed
Nature: Hasty
- Work Up
- Giga Drain
- Close Combat
- HP Rock
As of now, I still can't decide if I want a solely physical set for Virizon or this mixed set. I'm testing out this mixed set right now, and it's actually fine for Charizard Y, since HP Rock will OHKO it, and Virizion is faster at base speed 108. I also like HP Rock better than Stone Edge in that sense since it's 100% accurate. I've had Stone Edge miss so many times, and Rock Slide isn't an option for Virizion. As for Talonflame, if I can predict a switch in, HP Rock will OHKO that as well. The main thing I can't OHKO with HP Rock is Volcarona, even after one Work Up.
Interestingly I've seen less of Volcarona recently, probably because everyone's hyped up on Talonflame and don't need another double rock weakness.
Virizion also has the benefit of being not very expected in OU, in addition to its grass typing's new battle properties, meaning Smeargle cannot use Spore on it.
Er, wait.
Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Sp. Def
Nature: Bold
- Protect
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Stealth Rock
For a while, Chansey used to be Vaporeon, just to try out something different. Vaporeon did have the benefit of not caring too much about Knock off, but I can usually go for Protect on Chansey to test the waters, or switch out to Crobat or Mawile when I know a Knock off is coming, like from Conkeldurr or Mandibuzz. Vaporeon was also not a good answer to Rotom-W, considering that Volt Switch usually did ~50% health and Vaporeon could still be burned. Chansey provides some essential walling, sponging and healing support, along with being a status absorber. If only Wish was easier to obtain in-game. :/
Also, I could care less about Taunt most of the time; I can just switch out to something else.
Main threats
- Assault Vest Conkeldurr; Zoroark usually cannot clean up with Extrasensory, which is really annoying. The only way to get rid of it is via Crobat or Mawile (the latter is still faster than Conkeldurr).
- Assault Vest Metagross; Zoroark cannot OHKO with Dark Pulse, and it usually carries Hammer Arm, or at the very least Meteor Mash.
