I've never made a real hyper offensive team, but with genesect, deoxys speed, and Mluc being suspected and likely banned, I want to say goodbye D:. so I made this, which has gotten me rages on PS multiple times. So here's my first HO team, hope you like it!
Preview:
Gen 6 d-nite and gengar sprites were too big D:
Teambuilding Process:
Started out with the three suspects to, again, say goodbye.
tested them with some outrage spam, azumarill, etc to see what they could and couldn't deal with. I always liked trapping, so I decided to try out something I thought I would never use: Wobuffet. Wobuffet could trap offensive threats and KO them with their own move, or it can even encore defensive mons. Poisoning it is a huge mistake, as it will simply encore and let Mluc set up. Same with Knock off.
With gen 6, along with megas, new pokemon, a new type, and new mechanics, also came new items. Among these, the two that are the most viable are probably weakness policy, and assault vest. Weakness policy has an awesome user in dragonite, who can perfectly abuse it with multiscale. Add this to the fact that deoxys has taunt, and much of the time it can and will sweep.
Needed another special attacker that could prevent spinning and keep offensive presence, so I picked gengar, and opted for sub+3 attacks.
Deoxys-Speed @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs:188 Def / 68 SDef / 252 HP (thanks MK)
Timid Nature
- Taunt
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Punch (MK)
Deoxys-Speed has gotten nerfed so much that it doesn't deserve ubers quite much because of defog, but not so much that it is not phenomenal. Deoxys is the definitive lead for hyper offense, only facing a small amount of competition from smeargle and its own defense form. Deoxys is always my lead, and most battles go similarly. I taunt their SR user, get up my SR plus a layer of spikes or two, and then die. It's that simple. Now some people may think that "That's a perfectly good waste of a pokemon!" I assure you it is not. SR on their side is so important on Hyper Offense that it warrants a suicide lead in deoxys. It is not setup fodder either, as it has taunt. The only reason to not use it is because of excradrill, but its not really all that common and can be set up on by d-nite.
Possible Changes
Fire Punch > Psycho Boost?
Lucario @ Lucarionite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Bullet Punch
- Earthquake
Lucario is so amazing. There is just no disputing that. It is the most dangerous sweeper in the tier hands down, can run special or physical OR mixed, and even has adaptability! The pokemon that can take +2 CC are very few, and must be at almost full health most of the time. Here are some calcs to illustrate this:
+2 252 Atk Adaptability Mega Lucario Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-W: 388-458 (127.6 - 150.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Adaptability Mega Lucario Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mega Venusaur: 176-208 (48.3 - 57.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Mega Lucario Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Blade: 818-964 (252.4 - 297.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
The list goes on and on. Lucario at +2 OHKOs most of the metagame, 2HKOing the rest
Possible Changes
Crunch/Ice Punch > Earthquake
Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Download
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Atk
Hasty Nature
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- U-turn
Best revenge killer in OU, Probably. A couple factors that play into this include the fact that it can run like 20 sets, Download, typing, coverage and movepool, great stats, etc. I considered using the rare but dangerous shift gear set, but I needed special attackers. Flamethrower roasts steels, Ice gliscor and co., T-bolt is for mega charizard (big threat), and U-turn is for momentum :D
