Haven't posted a team in a long while... This is a team that I wanted to save as it really was a good team, in fact one of the best I had, and it made games have a fun moments. This team features the best Mawile variant imo, Sub Punch. Very few things were stopping Mawile from being banned and honestly, I think it deserved it. While having the power of Bisharp's Sucker Punch. To being able to 2HKO defensive Landorus-T after -1, it really is a powerful threat. This is send off in remembering Mawile.
Mawile @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 164 HP / 252 Atk / 92 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Play Rough
- Sucker Punch
- Focus Punch
The star of the team, and the Pokemon that I wanted to use ever since I scrapped previous teams with it. Originally a SD variant, I was tired of getting walled by Heatran all the time, so then came Sub Punch. It OHKOs Heatran in the face. The only flaw of Mawile which really stands out is that it cannot hit MVenusaur all too much, while a mixed Venu can beat it out with Earthquake or HP Fire in combination with Synthesis. The EVs allow Mawile to outspeed uninvested Base 60s. The rest is truly obvious.
Rotom-Wash @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 132 Def / 128 Spe
Bold Nature
- Rest
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hydro Pump
RestoChesto... How I've heard so much stories about this Rotom variant and I see why. The Pain Split Variant is so outclassed to this one, easily. This Rotom is defensively standard, but the EV Spread is odd. It outspeeds Adamant Bisharp, allowing you to get the burn if it SDs or Sucker Punches you. This also outspeeds Landorus-T, allowing you to aim and fire Hydro Pumps and WoWs, picking off at its HP. Rotom aids in beating out the Steel Types that hinder Mawile's performance as well as Ground Types.
Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 232 HP / 156 SpA / 120 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Pursuit
- Ice Beam
- Fire Blast
Specially Defensive Tyranitar with a mixed feel to it. This Tyranitar was previously the Thunder Wave variant, but that variant really sucked as TWave was never used. This Tyranitar aids in BBQing Ferrothorn, Scizor, Bisharp, and among other things, while pretty much owning the field by Ice Beaming all Ground Flyings, Dragons, Grass Types and pretty much some of TTars checks. You can opt for Stone Edge but it will not lay the damage on Grounds or standard Dragons(except DNite) and it has a good chance to miss. Ice Beam has a 50% chance to OHKO Lando-T on the switch. Meaning this can net KOs from a lot of spectrums after Stealth Rock. Pursuit is there to pick off from the LatiTwins and Talonflame.
Gothitelle @ Choice Specs
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 92 HP / 200 SpA / 216 Spe
Modest Nature
- Psychic
- Energy Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Trick
Only one person will know what this team was based off of, and that's a core featuring Scizor, Gothitelle, and Azumarill. That team was okay, I just felt like Scizor was more dead weight from when I used it, as it needed an SD to do any notable damage. So I replaced it with Mawile. As mentioned before, Mawile cannot break Mega Venusaur, and this is my solution. Gothitelle pretty much destroys Venusaur, although it takes massive damage from the offensive Variant. Gothitelle can tank any one hit from most mons, and KO back thanks to Specs+Coverage of choice. Psychic was chosen over Psyshock because most Mega Venusaur tend to run Defensive EVs rather than SDef, so Psychic would do way more damage. HP Ice and Energy Ball are just chosen coverage to beat out specific threats if it's healthy, most notably Garchomp and Azumarill(Not AVest). The EVs allow Gothitelle to outspeed 44 Speed Mega Venusaur, the fastest creeping Venu I saw.
Landorus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Knock Off
- Earth Power
- Psychic
- Rock Slide
This is new addition I added to the team, as I needed Pokemon that aren't completely hindered by Sand from TTar. Landorus-I was the perfect solution. Landorus-I not only can go mixed to **** on Chansey's life and all, but it has so much power with a Life zorb attached. Knock Off, Earth Power, and Psychic are standard, but an odd addition I added was Rock Slide. While getting a Sheer Force Boost, it wrecks Zard Y alive(which has destroyed me late game one battle, rssulting in a 1-0) and it picks off damage on other Flyings that resist Earth Power. Psychic helps destroy Venusaur that have been weakened and also weakened Conkeldurr. This aids Mawile in weakening the opposing team greatly, and it also has late game potential after Mawile gets the job done.
Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 8 HP / 248 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Play Rough
- Knock Off
- Superpower
The 3rd and last member one the core I referred to earlier, Azu has been a great member of the team, using an interesting Double Fairy core, working similar to Double Dragon in Ubers. Originally an Assault Vest variant, the AVest didn't have the power of the Choice Banded variant, and AVest didn't wall as much as I thought it would. Choice Band provides the power and the momentum. Although this one lacks bulk, what it outspeeds really helps. Basically anything up to uninvested 80s. I use the AVest set for this as I really liked Knock Off's ability. While Azu serves no true purpose with Mawile's power trip, it served as a glue, and it just fit greatly in the team.
Althought we will not see Mawile in OU for a long time, it's to be noted that Mawile, unlike Aegislash, has the tools and the amazing typing to survive in the Uber Metagame. Also I agree with Mawile's ban as having 678 Attack, coupled by that typing, and the Moves and bulk, it wouldn't have lasted long anyways. Aegislash was just unpredictable with a technical BST of 720, which is why I disagree with that ban. Hopefully Aegislash will return to OU in the release of ORAS along with Mega Luc and Genesect.
