Pokémon Rate My Team

A couple weeks ago I posted a rain team and having tested that out i found it was not quite where it should be at, so I decided to have another go at making it rain in VGC, however i decided to pick much more of a wider range in typing and not having so many pokemon that rely on rain.

I left my reasons for the moves and everything in the following overview of the team

Ludicolo (M) @ Assault Vest - Standard in a rain team, assault vest and swift swim with dual typing? for me an easy choice over kingdra as it has a better coverage
Ability: Swift Swim
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Def / 68 SpA
Modest Nature
- Scald - Has that 30% change to burn and is more reliable than hydro pump
- Ice Beam - Nice for hitting dragon types, flying types, the odd grass types if needed
- Fake Out - Gives other pokemon that extra turn they may need, also breaks sash and sturdy
- Giga Drain - Great way for sustain and keeping this pokemon on the field, deals with other water types such as suicne and swampert

Politoed @ Sitrus Berry - Its a rain team what else id you expect?
Ability: Drizzle
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 76 SpA / 100 SpD / 4 Spe
Calm Nature
- Scald - Same as Ludicolo as it can burn and is good for STAB
- Icy Wind - Great way of slowing down other pokemon, this can e really good for helping my sweepers out such as Mega-Medicham as it isn't the quickest
- Rain Dance - When rain runs out after drizzle most people seem to expect me to switch out into something else so its nice to surprise them with more rain, also helps deal with other weather teams in that i can make sure I have rain and thus the advantage
- Protect - Because doubles

Aegislash @ Leftovers - The surprise of the team, I didn't expect Aegislash to work so well in a rain team but to my surprise its amazing. The rain takes out the threat of a fire type move hurting badly and then my water types can deal with ground types easily
Ability: Stance Change
Level: 50
EVs: 236 HP / 252 SpA / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Substitute - Gives an extra layer of protection
- King's Shield - can help nullify the physical attackers such as Kang how make contact to the shield
- Flash Cannon - Easy way to deal with pesky fairy types, plus STAB
- Shadow Ball - Coverage to deal with psychic, poison and the odd grass Pokemon, plus STAB

Hydreigon @ Choice Specs Ability: Levitate - One of the best combos between item and pokemon in my view. The sheer power that Hydreigon has matched with this item means that most pokemon will be dispatched off the field easily
Level: 50
EVs: 84 HP / 12 Def / 236 SpA / 4 SpD / 172 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor - Brings the pain in the rain, i like to open with poli and then draco meteor stuff then switch out as not many pokemon are gonna survive this super charged STAB draco meteor
- Flamethrower - nice coverage but however its not used much, mostly to deal with ferrothron
- Dark Pulse - STAB and deals with a lot of things neutrally and also super effectivly
- Earth Power - Really good at dealing with pokemon such as heatran and some fighting types if i get the outspeed

Talonflame @ Choice Band - For me Talonflame has been very much a suicide bomber, it goes in, kills one or two things then comes out again, also good at dealing with other talonflame
Ability: Gale Wings
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird - Has priority and STAB.....what else do you need?
- Flare Blitz - Deals with a lot of things such as steel types also has STAB
- U-turn - Its nice to be able to dish out a move then come back, i like to use it with hydriegon in that when i feel im gonna be hit by an ice move i switch out into aegislash then U-turn myself back in
- Taunt - havent really had the chance to use ti yet so it could be suspect to change

Medicham @ Medichamite - One of the most underrated mega pokemon in my opinion as the pure power ability makes its attack monstrous, not the quickest but i have my ways around that
Ability: Pure Power
Level: 50
EVs: 192 HP / 252 Atk / 64 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out - Thinking about maybe switching it out for bullet punch but however it does do a nice supportive job and also can do chip damage if i need to avenge a pokemon
- High Jump Kick - Kills pretty much everything it hits with STAB and a 130 base power
- Psycho Cut - i prefer it over zen headbutt as it has a higher accuracy and also has a high crit ratio plus STAB
- Protect - Because doubles

please feel free to comment and tell me where i could make improvements as i only have a 7/10 win ratio and i would possibly like to go higher. Thanks :D

I will do a rate on this later :)
So be ready for a couple changes, but just one thing before I start. Medicham is an under as a Mega, but overall Gallade is better, so if you are okay with it, I might change it, but if you really want me to leave it I will. I also have an idea to have Medicham as non-mega so tell what you prefer. Thanks!
go nuts :P whatever you want
okay I am on vacation now, but I will get around to it!
cool, just do it whenever you can

Okay sorry this took me a little while, but I really like your team. Just Mega-Medicham seems a little out of place look at your team on team Magma builder you have a rock and a electric weakness. So I kept that in mind when I did this RMT. Changes will be in Bold.

Ludicolo (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Swift Swim
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Def / 68 SpA
Modest Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Fake Out
- Giga Drain

He is perfect. Nothing to change, it is a very standard set.

Politoed @ Sitrus Berry/ Eject Button
Ability: Drizzle
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 76 SpA / 100 SpD / 4 Spe
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Icy Wind
- Helping Hand
- Protect

Yes there is a surprise factor with rain dance, but truly it is wasted slot. You can switch or possibly give Politoed the Eject Button item so he can spread drizzle more. Helping Hand is to boost those Pokemon on your Team that will be picking up the KOs.

Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
Level: 50
EVs: 236 HP / 252 SpA / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Wide Guard
- King's Shield
- Flash Cannon
- Shadow Ball

Wide Guard is a great move, preventing Rock Slides for Talonflame, and Hyper Voices (fairy) for Hydreigon. It also blocks Heat Waves and Earthquakes for itself.

Hydreigon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
Level: 50
EVs: 84 HP / 12 Def / 236 SpA / 4 SpD / 172 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Heat Wave
- Dark Pulse
- Earth Power

Really this is more of an opinion but spread damage is crucial is VGC. Heat Wave is slighty better I think, but Flamethower is of course a very good substitue.

Talonflame @ Life Orb
Ability: Gale Wings
Level: 50
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Overheat/U-turn/Tailwind
- Will-O-Wisp

I swapped the Band for Life Orb as it allows some variables in your sets. Will-O-Wisp to cripple those Physical attackers. Your choice of Overheat, U-Turn, or Tailwind. I think Overheat has the most Potential, as it is his only special move, so that stat drop will not weaken you.

Yes Medicham is an underrated Mega, but there are better options, even more so on a rain team. Medicham compounded several weaknesses, I took these into account and I think I found the perfect Mega.

Swampert @ Swampertite
Ability: Damp --> Swift Swim
Level: 50
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Superpower/ Brick Break/ Ice Punch / Rock Slide
- Protect

A very good Mega for in the rain, has loads of offensive power. The EVs are utilized to give Swampy his maximum damage output and bulk. Giving Mega Swampert 152 Speed EVs is for out speeding Pokemon in rain not faster than Mega Sceptile, his arch enemy. Waterfall is mandatory. Earthquake is great, and you have a flying type, and a levitate user on the team so that could always be useful. You could also just protect with your ally Pokemon. The last move is your choice. I would recommend Superpower or Rock Slide for power/utility. Brick Break if you don't like the stat drop of Superpower. Ice Punch wouldn't be great because you have 2 other Pokemon with Ice moves. Protect because this is doubles and you want your Mega to last.

If you want to keep Medicham use this set instead.
Medicham @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
Level: 50
EVs: 192 HP / 252 Atk / 64 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch -Can be used more than once and gives him priority throughout the battle.
- Drain Punch/Force Palm -Lots of Pokemon use Protect in double battles and if you hit a Pokemon using Protect with High Jump Kick you will lose half your HP. The HP gained from Drain Punch is nice although Force Palm can cripple fast Pokemon with Paralysis.
- Zen Headbutt -The flinch chance is better than the higher accuarcy.
- Detect -Same as protect, just a little rarer.

I hope you liked the changes, and truly you did build a very good team to start with. Only 1 Pokemon change and other very minor tweaks were needed. I hope you do much better, with your new team. Have a great Summer!
