Hey everyone. I modifying one of my first competitive teams. It is a rain team, and I plan on playing in the VGC format (on Battlespot doubles). I am asking for help, suggestions, or comments on my team.

When I was posting this team, I realized that I have no easy way to defeat Mega Venusaur or (oddly enough) Swift swim Ludicolo. If there is any move / pokemon that could fulfill this role, please feel free to add it in.

Politoed @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Drizzle
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP / 140 Def / 76 SpA / 36 SpD / 4 Speed
Scald
Icy Wind
Helping Hand
Protect

Defense rain setter. The EVs and nature increase its physical and special bulk. With the defensive investment, politoed 76 Special attack EVs secure a OHKO with Scald in the rain on 4 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T. Scald is main STAB. Icy Wind provides speed control and chip damage. Helping hand is an awesome support option for its teammates. Protect is the stable VGC move. Sitrus berry increases Politoed’s longevity in battle.

Swampert @ Swampertite
Ability: Swift Swim (Torrent before Mega Evolving)
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 108 HP / 252 Att / 148 Speed
Waterfall
Earthquake
Ice Punch
Protect

With swift swim and EV investment, Swampert outspeeds everything up to positive natured based 145s like Mega Sceptile. With 252 Attack EVs and an Adamant Nature, this thing hits like a truck. The remaining EVs go into HP to increase Swampert’s already solid bulk. Waterfall and Earthquake are strong STAB attacks, and Waterfall is even more powerful in rain. Ice punch is coverage on grass types. Protect because yeah

Virizion @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Att / 252 Speed
Leaf Blade
Close Combat
Stone Edge
Protect

Virizion checks a lot of threatening pokemon. It can deal with bulky water types such as Milotic, it can OHKO Mega Kang, and threatens other weather setters such as Charizard-Y and Tyranitar. The EVs and Jolly nature make Virizion fast and powerful. Life orb increases its damage output. Leaf Blade and Close Combat are strong STABs, and Stone Edge provides good coverage. Protect is essential.

Rotom-Heat @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 HP / 124 SpA / 132 Speed
Overheat
Thunderbolt
Will-o-wisp
Protect

Rotom provides bulky offense and burn support. 132 speed EVs outspeed neutral-natured base 70s such as Bisharp. 252 HP EVs increases Rotom’s bulk and works well with its naturally good defensive stats. 124 Special attacks EVs and a modest nature increase damage output. Overheat and Thunderbolt are good STABs. Safety goggles on this set gives my team another way to deal with Amoonguss as Rotom is immune to Spores and can attack through Rage Powder.

Gardevoir @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Trace
Nature: Modest
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Speed
Moonblast
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Hidden Power Ground

Gardevoir provides strong offensive and can act as a revenge killer. EVs are standard, but I chose Modest nature for more power. Moonblast and Psychic are strong STABs, Shadow Ball provides coverage on Ghost Types, and Hidden power ground is for Steel types. Trace can lead to good abilities.

For the last pokemon, I am considering three pokemon: Bisharp, Gengar, and Aegislash. All provide the same coverage but have different properties and moves that stand out. I do not know which will help the team the most. I’ll list likely sets that I would use.

Bisharp @ Focus Sash
Ability: Defiant
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Att / 252 Speed
Sucker Punch
Knock Off
Iron Head
Protect

Aegislash @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Stance Change
Nature: Quiet
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Speed
Shadow Ball
Flash Cannon
Wide Guard
King’s Shield

Gengar @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Speed
Shadow Ball
Sludge Bomb
Protect
Will-o-wisp ?

I ask for any suggestions or changes you may have for this team. Help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If you're having difficulties with Ludicolo and M-Venu, Scizor could be the way to go. It does well in the Rain and has STAB Bug Bite for these threats, and well as Bullet Punch for Sylveon. LO is already taken by Virizion, so Lum Berry would be a good alternative to counter Amoonguss, Dark Void Smeargle, Rotom-Wash, and Thundurus for a turn.
Who should Scizor replace?
