Greninja with metronome is basically for tricking the enemy into thinking i’m specs. Basically to gain power, just minus the lock in by specs or hp drop by life orb.

Mega charizard Y for a second special sweeper with a wider movepool. Sun and grass helps to counter rain teams. Grass works well in general against rotom W and water/ground pokemon.

Mimikyu just bc i need a fairy move and i want to have a set up mon. The rest of the team has 0 set up mons and nothing to counter someone who is setting up.

Landorus-T is scarfed to check tapu koko, since they usually assume im a rock setter. One shot koko (unless holding shuca berry), and if at full health it’ll survive one hp ice from it unless it’s a crit, so i’m still alive for one more blast at an opposing mon. Superpower works against chansey and ferrothorn if needed. Hp ice is self explanatory.

Ferrothorn is my bulky setter, even with swords dance or nasty plot as long as its not a super effective move it usually survives at least one hit, leech seed just for some recovery

And then mew as my defogger, with roost for recover and heal bell to heal my team and to compliment the synchronize ability. Toss just for guaranteed damage.

I made it to 1456 with this team but id like to make it higher on the ladder in general, just looking for tips

Good post. Some passing thoughts:

  • Anybody worth your time playing can tell the difference between 1.1x damage and 1.5x damage. I would avoid using Metronome as it ultimately makes Greninja weaker.
  • Use Fire Blast over Flamethrower, as it deals more damage. You have another STAB in Air Slash if you need to play safe, and Solar Beam which is sufficiently powerful if Air Slash is resisted.
  • Defog is questionable on Charizard when you're running Mew specifically for it. Run Focus Blast for Heatran.
  • I really recommend using U-Turn on Landorus to get free switches for Mimikyu, so it can keep Disguise up. Superpower has lots of overlap with Earthquake so you don't lose much by dropping it.
  • Ferrothorn is very passive. Double hazards are nice on a team with Mimikyu as a win condition though, so there's a trade-off if you want to try Gyro Ball to pressure the likes of Tapu Lele.
  • Mew is strong enough to use Psychic over Seismic Toss. Consider Will-O-Wisp as it will allow you to run some SpDef on Ferrothorn.

This is a pretty good balance team though. Scarf Lando, Ash Greninja and Disguise make it harder for offence to roll you which is nice.
