I’m relatively new to VGC, so I did all the research I could and made this team! Hope you like it. Critiques are welcome (just don’t be too harsh).
Fiona (Ogerpon-Hearthflame) @ Hearthflame Mask
Ability: Mold Breaker
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 104 HP / 152 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Ivy Cudgel
- Swords Dance
- Spiky Shield
- Grassy Glide
As you might already know, I don’t have a choice in most of the Tera-Types or items, so I decided to make Ogerpon a good partner with Rillaboom. The strategy is to get at least one Swords Dance in so I can start doing lots of damage, and if there’s a water-type on the field, I have Grassy Glide to go hand in hand with Rillaboom.
Shrek (Rillaboom) @ Leftovers
Ability: Grassy Surge
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 76 HP / 164 Atk / 108 Def / 96 SpD
Brave Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Grassy Glide
- Fake Out
- U-Turn
Yes, I named all the Pokémon. Sue me. Rillaboom is there to be Rillaboom and stop any heavy hitters off the bat, and clean up after people who use Indedee-F’s Psychic Surge. I intentionally did not put any Speed EVs because I wanted to lead with Ogerpon and Rillaboom, and I wanted Grassy Terrain to override Psychic Terrain, not the other way around. I don’t know if it works too well, but so far it’s alright? Fake Out and Grassy Glide are mandatory, Protect is to make sure I can abuse this strategy multiple times, and Wood Hammer for an actually strong move.
Blueberry (Glimmora) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Toxic Debris
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 192 HP / 136 SpA / 84 SpD / 96 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave
- Stealth Rock
- Power Gem
- Substitute
Before testing, I wanted Glimmora to be relatively docile and just set traps. However, I realized I actually wanted a nice, defensive mon who actually did stuff. Sludge Wave & Power Gem are good STAB moves, Substitute is to set up Stealth Rock without getting one shot, and I gave it Black Sludge because I like my Pokémon alive.
DEMON BEAR!! (Urshifu-Rapid-Strike) @ Choice Band
Ability: Unseen Fist
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Surging Strikes
- Aqua Jet
- Detect
- Close Combat
Urshifu is here to be exactly what it’s used as: a heavy hitter that will punish you dearly choosing Protect. I gave him Choice Band to lock in Surging Strikes with that boost. All the other moves are there because, well, they’re just alright. Besides, Choice Band locks all those moves anyway and I’m gonna be using Surging Strikes half the time, if not all the time.
Melvin (Farigiraf) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Armor Tail
Level: 50
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 236 HP / 36 Def / 188 SpA / 48 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Psychic
- Trick Room
- Imprison
Farigiraf is probably my least favorite Pokémon on this time, due to how niche he is. He’s literally only here to stop Trick Room, or set up Trick Room. I’m thinking of using another Pokémon to actually take advantage of Trick Room, but I don’t know what to use. Hyper Voice and Psychic are for STAB, Imprison to stop Trick Room, and Trick Room to, well, stop Trick Room. Or set it up.
The Big Guy (Archaludon) @ Power Herb
Ability: Stamina
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 16 HP / 172 Def / 252 SpA / 68 SpD
Rash Nature
- Electro Shot
- Body Press
- Draco Meteor
- Iron Head
Archaludon is my answer to annoying Pokémon like Flutter Mane or Urshifu-Rapid-Strike. Electro Shot is its signature move, Body Press to get rid of specially defensive Pokémon, and Iron Head/Draco Meteor for strong STAB moves. I gave it Power Herb as my team doesn’t really have any rain setters, like, at all.
