Disaster here! Smogon made their tier changes and starts sobbing MAGMORTAR IS GONE!!!!! Stupid Smogon. I will dislike them until the end of my life!!!! But, until then, here i go with my NU Sandstorm team!
Miltank @ Smooth Rock
Trait: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 SDef/ 4 Atk
Careful Nature (+SDef,-SAtk)
- Sandstorm
- Stealth Rock
- Body Slam
- Heal Bell
I think this is the weirdest Sandstorm lead ever! Sandstorm + Smooth Rock is for 8 turns of wonderful Sandstorm and Stealth Rock is for setting up Entry Hazards. Body Slam is for the paralyzing chance and Heal Bell is for healing the teams Status conditions. Sap Sipper is Miltank's ability because a Sandstorm team always has two main weaknesses: Water and Grass. The Water type threat is absorbed by Cacturne and Cradily. The Grass threat is handled here by Miltank.
Duosion @ Eviolite
Trait: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SAtk/ 252 HP/ 4 Def
Modest Nature (+SAtk,-Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Hidden Power Fighting
- Recover
A basic Duosion set. It may be basic but it is very powerful. Set up with a couple of Calm Minds and start sweeping. Psychic is Duosion's main STAB and HP Fighting is coverage against Dark types. Recover is for after you used a couple of Calm Minds because Duosion surely received some damage.
Cacturne @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk/ 248 HP/ 8 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk,-SAtk)
- Spikes
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance
- Seed Bomb
In NU, good Spikes setters are rare. Cacturne is one of them. Spikes is obviously there. Sucker Punch paired with it's great Attack stat hits very hard and if used after a couple of Swords Dances, Cacturne will be sweeping better than any Pokemon in NU. Seed Bomb is STAB and can hit very hard.
Cradily @ Smooth Rock
Trait: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Def/ 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def,-Atk)
- Sandstorm
- Toxic
- Recover
- Hidden Power Fire
After a good 15 minutes of debate on the Chat for finding my Sandstorm summoner, i finally chose Cradily. This weird plant has a the role of supporting my team while summoning the Sand. Having two Water negaters on my team is not bad because if one of them faints, i'm in a heck of a trouble. Sandstorm is for the Sand and Toxic is for stalling. Recover is for pairing it up with Toxic and HP Fire is for Steel and Grass types.
Gigalith @ Choice Band
Trait: Sand Force
EVs: 252 Atk/ 248 Spe/ 8 HP
Adamant Nature (+Atk,-SAtk)
- Stone Edge
- Rock Blast
- Earthquake
- Curse/ Explosion
Kicked out Golem for this guy because he is way better. Sand Force increases by 30% his three first attacking moves and that, paired with Choice Band, maxed out Attack EVs, Adamant Nature and in some cases, STAB, can make this guy deadly. Stone Edge for STAB and can hit very hard and is boosted by Sand Force. Rock Blast is a great alternative as it can break through Substitutes and Earthquake is a good move that is also boosted by Sand Force. Curse is a good move to boost Gigalith up but when he gets a bit useless, Explosion can be a nice move. Can't decide which one to pick.
Gabite @ Eviolite
Trait: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 4 HP
Jolly Nature (+Spe,-SAtk)
- Hone Claws
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Dragon Rush
Gabite is the evolution of Gible, one of the cutest Pokemon in the world and the pre-evolution of Garchomp, one of the greatest Pokemon in the world and a Pseudo-Legendary. Sand Veil is his ability for taking advantage of the Sand. Hone Claws is very important on him because it raises his already good Attack and raises his Accuracy. Earthquake is a very powerful STAB that hits super-effectively everything that his other STAB, Dragon Rush, does not hit effectively. Stone Edge is for coverage against Ice types and Dragon Rush, paired with Hone Claws, wrecks havoc.
The end of my NU Sand team! It was, by far, the most fun of my NU Weather teams that i made until now. I still have NU Hail team and my second NU Sun Team left to do. Thanks for reading and also thank you for answering!
