I love how the first thing some new users do is post their question without reading the rules, as if they have some sort of disease where if they don't post their question right away they'll die. Then, they get so confused about why their question was closed, when they simply could've read the rules and avoided the trouble.
I get it. The glorious page known as the rules may be discouraging to read at first, but that doesn't mean new users shouldn't avoid it.

Smogon isn't actually doing any better rn honestly. Go through the RMT section, and stuff like "this is my first team help me out" or "I'm a total noob save me" is pretty common there. Only thing is that about a eighth of those teams are actually good, and a moderation is a bit stricter (they close stuff until the rules are not followed). But still, the mods are doing a admirable job here as well

The RMT isn't really gonna improve until good players actually start posting their teams there, which won't happen until they believe that they can get good advice by posting it there.
