Yes, if you have empty spot in your party, Nincada will evolve into Shedinja! I will give you example...
Party:
1st spot-Blaziken
2nd spot-Ludicolo
3rd spot-Swellow
4th spot-Manetric
5th spot-Nincada
6th spot-empty
after Nincada evolve, your party will be
1st spot-Blaziken
2nd spot-Ludicolo
3rd spot-Swellow
4th spot-Manetric
5th spot-Ninjask
6th spot-Shedinja
that's the meaning of empty spot in party...

So you need to spar a pokeball with an nincada to evolve into shedinja
And you can find an nincada in platinum in eterna forest by using the poke radar
That's right, like will's said...
That's right

Wobbuffet gave a great explanation, but left one extremely crucial detail: In Gen IV (Which you're playing on), you need a spare Pokéball in your bag to "put" Shedinja into.

This means that you need an actual Pokéball, not a Great Ball, Ultra Ball, etc.

Ow yeah, I forgot to see the tag! I think it's Sp/Rb/Em, that's why I choose the Hoenn example...
